Does Brian Kenny annoy you too?

if you watch MLBNow do you want to reach through your set and smack Brian Kenny on his fluffy haired head or is it just me? I'm sure it's his job to act like he knows everything but gimme a break....the smug thing kills me. He reminds me of my wife...he can take any side of any argument. btw i'm sure he's more knowledgeable than Harold Reynolds when it comes to numbers but I have plenty of Harold Reynolds baseball cards and not one Brian Kenny card

I love Brian Kenny and not just because he is also an avid boxing fan. Harold Reynolds makes me want to hit myself in the face with a baseball bat.

And if you had a Brian Kenny card it'd probably be as worth as much as a Harold Reynolds card.

What WOY said about that TV thing. HR > BK in my world though. I always (most always) side with a player.

What shocks me is how many times Harold Reynolds is flat out dead wrong on live tv and yet we never hear anything about it. Dude is making a living being wrong more than right.

You must not follow the same people on twitter that I do. It is almost a daily thing about just how wrong he is.

While I enjoy him interviews, I find him annoying in the context of his MLB show. While I realize it's the entire basis for the show, he oversells the "stats" vs. "scouts" angle and doesn't do enough explanation of why the stat matters. You could so easily set up Harold Reynolds, back him in to corners with a bit of Socratic dialogue and call him out on his unsupported assertions; too often Kenny just tends to the blunt disagreement, leaving the viewer with little basis for believing the data unless they were already inclined to do so.

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

I like Brian Kenny. I agree with Rick that Kenny too often lets Harold Reynolds off the hook when he could easily absolutely skewer him. Reynolds says some of the dumbest things I have ever heard.

I really think that is MLB Network stepping in.

Remember the first week of promotion for that show? It was Brian Kenny ripping apart Harold and his flawed ideas. For some reason, before the show even started, the promotions became much more tame from BK towards Harold.

Oh I agree. Kenny has definitely been told to take it easy on Reynolds. Most baseball fans and MLB Network viewers know very little about sabermetrics, so they are inclined to agree with Harold. The network doesn't want to alienate their viewers by having Kenny rip their baseball worldview to shreds. The show is intended to gently bump the modern understanding of baseball into the public consciousness, not blow peoples' minds.

That's my problem with Brian Kenny too.

Having said that, I abhor Harold Reynolds as a baseball analyst, and I don't think I've literally ever heard him make a good point about baseball, which is amazing to me.

If you watch him enough, you will see one or two a week.

He does a good job with the Diamond Demos, I like those.

I remember he once said Troy Tulowitzki was not a good player and the Rockies should trade him because he doesn't get enough RBIs. That's when Harold Reynolds really revealed himself.
