Here is also what he did in yesterday's game.

I understand and respect the view that he hasn't done enough to earn a spot.....I do not understand a MLB fan not wanting to see him in this showcase event.

It's all up to the fans now, so we'll see

Bottom line, Puig brings a lot to the table. He is capable of a big hit, a stolen base, or a big defensive play. Players like that can energize a squad or make a play that decides the game.

The game is a farce anyway, so whomever can help the NL win deserves to be on the team. I have no problem with the fans being involved in the voting process if the game means nothing (actually I do, but that's another story), but if kind Bud wants to foolishly make it count for home field advantage, leave the fans out of it and play your best players the whole game.

Very interesting and also a reminder of the size of the area that the Braves pull in....

Perhaps this was stated before (maybe in this thread), but has anyone compared Puig's total plate appearances with the "total batters faced" stat of the relievers who have made the AS teams? It would seem that if Puig can't play because he hasn't been on the field enough, then relief pitchers should also be barred from the rosters .
". . . acquiring J. Blanton from Oakland for, apparently, Bailey/Cueto, Votto and a lesser prospect. I do it in a second . . . The Reds' equation this year is simple: Make Matt Belisle your #3 starter . . . trade for Blanton, win 85 or more, be in the mix all summer." - Paul Daugherty, Feb. 8, 2008

All relief pitchers are being compared to each other, not other position players.

Kershaw and Wainwright have only played in 19 games each. Bar them from the game.

That map is awesome. I love some of the counties that have 0 votes. Then others have like 4 votes you can tell: 50-25-25 splits, etc. Then others have like 99.9% for Benoit. Michigan is lockstep for the Tigers. It goes on, just interesting demographics.

Another interesting read on the pitchers making the adjustment to Puig and perhaps he is starting to adjust back.

I read yesterday that had Puig been selected he would have had played the fewest games ever for a position player selected to the all star game.

Dodgers were 23-32 when he was called up.....in the games he has played they are 43-16 with him.

Though his average is clear down to .375 and average means nothing so his OPS is a meager 1.045.

If the Dodgers continue what they're doing and Puig continues what he's doing....he's going to play 105 games and be a top 8 MVP

    105 games are not enough.

Some of the best DHs have been candidates, and one could argue they only play roughly the equivalent of 80 games.
Rounding third and heading for home...
