I would say they insult their own intelligence. The utter stupidity spewed on that station, even during their one vestige of dignity in being the flagship station for the Reds, is not healthy for informing one's worldview, whatever that may be.

How do you have any idea what is even on WLW? You don't listen right? According to you only people lacking critical thinking skills and self respect are the ones listening. So unless you are part of the group you just stereotyped I would say it's fair to point out you obviously don't listen so thus your opinion doesn't hold much weight.

Yea, well sometimes its on from listening to the game in my car, or I'm waiting to hear some Reds news. Plus, some of the idiots have been on there for years. I don't watch Springer or Maury for longer than passing by a train wreck, but it doesn't take long to assess the ignorance of the content. Same for WLW. You don't have to go to the sewer to know it smells.

Marty has bashed Homer's hard headedness and refusal to listen to his catchers, coaches, etc. When a player does well, Marty says it. When a player does poorly, Marty says it. Sure, Marty is cocky, arrogant, and all those things; But one thing he's not is a jock sniffer.

Refraining from attacking players' character, work ethic and overall level of competence isn't being a jock sniffer, it's being a professional broadcaster. Marty's job isn't to bash players; he is paid to do play-by-play and he would do well to leave the commentary to others more suited to that kind of work.

The worst part of the whole thing is that when Marty sticks to just doing the pbp, he is still one of the best in the business. Unfortunately it seems like he spends more and more time editorializing, which turns me off as a listener.

And Duck Dynasty is the most watched show on cable. Popularity does not equal quality.

That is pretty fair. I do not like homer announcers, but then it seems that Marty has gone so far to the other extreme to not be a homer announcer that he treads in territory where his opinions are misinformed and inaccurate. Most of it involves a set of unrealistic expectations based on a simplistic view of what it takes to be successful at the MLB level in this game. I think that is probably true of most of the media that did not play the game at advanced levels. There is a skin of truth to "I played the game" commentary is more informed than those who know the game mostly by observation or being novice players.

Heck, if a lot of harsh critics just tried to teach a young person the proper mechanics of throwing, catching or hitting a baseball, they would be humbled at how skilled and talented even the worst MLB players are.

I feel the same way about MSNBC, NPR and other media outlets that I find to be rot gut filth. However I have the good taste and manners not to insult people that choose to listen and or watch such programing.

No arguments on MSNBC, but you're basically about as close to being objectively wrong as you possibly can be about NPR.

Sorry, a news station is not supposed to exist to validate every opinion that you have and tell you how right you are. It's supposed to present you news.
