"This isn’t stats vs scouts - this is stats and scouts working together, building an organization that blends the best of both worlds. This is the blueprint for how a baseball organization should be run. And, whether the baseball men of the 20th century like it or not, this is where baseball is going."---Dave Cameron, U.S.S. Mariner

If the Reds' brass brings him in, they don't deserve to win the division. Championship organizations don't make moves like this. Fortunately, for now, it's only a rumor.
Stick to your guns.
I could be wrong, but didn't he have a decent year with the Royals a couple seasons back?
"Reality tells us there are no guarantees. Except that some day Jon Lester will be on that list of 100-game winners." - Peter Gammons
per Francouer...he is more aggressive than any Reds hitter...almost never walks and can't hit a decent breaking ball with a 4' wide board. Anymore he can't turn on a good fb either altho his adjustment was to go UP 2 ounces in bat weight. Hmmmm....
He is significantly slower than just 2 years ago as well. He is a statue in the field altho he certainly throw. No...he isn't better than DRob imo. No matter how bad the bench seems swapping in Francouer isn't the answer or an upgrade. Nicest guy in baseball though. I mean that....terrific Casey like personality. But so what...he hasn't improved his pkate discipline in all his years playing baseball. And pitchers rarely thrown him heat anywhere near the zone anymore. They don't have to.

Decent .284/.329/.476 5.22 rc/27, thanks to a BABIP far exceeding his career norm. If this is the best case scenario, I don't want him. The most-likely scenario is worse than what we're getting right now.
While we don't know for sure who is available in trade for a non-prospect, I assure everyone that there are better options out there than Franceour. Just as one example, I lobbied for the Reds to trade for Eric Young Jr. after the Rockies designated him for assignment. Instead, the Mets got him for basically nobody. Since then, he's posted an on base percentage around .360, scored 10 runs and driven in 10 runs in 18 games, and the Mets are 10-8 in games he's played in (compared to 27-40 in games he hasn't played in).
Even if you hate Eric Young Jr. and think he will decline, this is just one illustration of the multitude of better options than Franceour in the OF which only Walt would know are available in a trade for an expendable body.
Stick to your guns.
It would almost be worth it just to see this place explode.
Pluses for Frenchy:
1. He would be the best looking Red since Corey Patterson
Negatives:
1. Everything else

In classic Redszone form, people jumping off bridges over the mere thought of a possible, harmless flier.
Minor league deals are lottery tickets. No one goes broke spending a dollar on the hope they land the combination of six winning numbers.

He's probably a better LF candidate against lefties than anyone on the roster at the moment. That's at least something.
Get this done, he doesn't draw a bunch of non run scoring walks and he swings at everything, contact is king.
Go Gators!

He would slot well in the second spot in the batting order.
Hugs, smiling, and interactive Twitter accounts, don't mean winning baseball. Until this community understands that we are cursed to relive the madness.
Francouer is exactly what the Reds do not need, another hacker. I'd rather pick up nothing than get him. Much better off with Heisey or really anyone else. Just pass on him, please.

His career stats match up most closely on the Reds to Brandon Phillips.
Before his 2011-1012 seasons, his stats would have been pretty much identical.
We need to replace Robinson with a RH hitter that's for sure.
It would not be inconceivable for Frenchie too put up a .800 OPS vs. LH pitchers this year.
