They also do a good job of collecting WS titles.

Look at their World Series heroes over the past few years.

Pat Burrell, Cody Ross, Juan Uribe, Brandon Crawford, Angel Pagan, Juaquin Arias to name a few. They all are meh players who got hot at the right time and carried them.

The Giants way shouldn't work. But you pick Cody Ross up off of waivers and he puts up a postseason OPS of 1.076. I don't now how it has worked twice in the past 3 years but it has.

Candidate for most ironic post of 2013. Strong candidate.

Pitching carried that team, any other meme is false

Pitching was the main thing, but then, over 162 games, you've got to have more than pitching to wrap up a division championship or even a second wild card. San Fran's offenses were largely forgettable, but maybe there's more to the game of offense than patience and walks. I think the Giants in those championship years were built well (great pitching + zero black holes in their lineup, unlike say, Cozart, Robinson, Hanigan, Mesaraco, etc). Competence offensively at every position (Giants), instead of two superstars, two competents, and four bums (Reds) is the better offense. Most teams can suffer one black hole in their offense, but three or four night after night is just too much for any true performers to make up for.

Yes, they caught fire and they do play a bat on the ball game more than most in the Moneyball world. They K less too, however the pitching is down this year for them and the hitting has had a hard time covering that up.

The fact that they weren't one trick ponies like the 2005 White Sox or 2007 Rockies speaks loud for sure.

That said Jeff Francouer ain't going to save their bacon and losing Nate S and getting frenchy is not an equal move

Did you cut a deal? Did you give up your first born? This makes my day. Now if we can just get Texas Dave posting more often we might get this ball club straightened out.
