That team was talentless and hopeless. And they played bad.

Believe me, it can get a whole lot worse than the current Reds.

What I remember is that I had cable in our house for first time....actually late 1981...and I enjoyed the Bengals great year. Living in Los Angeles...it was hard to get news like you could on cable.

It was the longest summer, after that strike year.....that I stopped watching baseball for the 1st time in my life.

He had good numbers last year in Milwaukee (5 starts only) after posting pretty putrid numbers in AAA before his call-up -- not a scrub - enigmatic maybe

I started being a fan and going to games in 1961. That was 52 years ago, and there have been a lot of tough years. Nineteen to be exact. Most years, the Reds have been decent, but 1966, 1982-1984, 1991, 1993, 1997-98, 2000-2009, and 2001 have been the worst. 2013 is beginning to look like 2011, so that's really scary.

I guess that 33 good years and 19 bad ones is not too bad. That's a pretty good winning percentage, but the scars of the lost decade are still here. It no longer is good to finish with a winning record and miss the playoffs. It happened that this team has only gone to the playoffs 11 times in my lifetime as a fan--52 years. But I will say that as frustrating as the lost decade was, this team is more frustrating. So much potential and so little results. Just drives me nuts.

It was the Banana Man's team. Nobody expected it to be any good.

it's challenging to find too many positives in this offense.

While in was a complete game on 80 pitches, the Reds actually scored on Hochevar that day. What is funny is I thought he only needed like 57 pitches. In a few more years, in my mind it will be that Hochevar threw only 30 pitches that day and he switched throwing arms half way through the game to make it more fair.

The Reds face a pitcher today with an ERA over 12. I hope they can scratch across a run or two against him.

That's waht I have always done when the Reds would be going badly. Even going way back I wouldn't listen to much of the games. I would tune in and get a score and just turn it off. I've been kinda of doing that lately too. They are just too hard to watch right now. It's like a basketball team that can't hit a shot when the offense goes bad in baseball. Just really, really frustrating to set through a game.

Last 10, 5-5, Cards 6-4, so we've lost one game in the standings to them in the last 10. The Pirates were 4-6. Crazy as ugly as the last two weeks have been.
