Just call me nuts, crazy, idiot, moron, etc for even thinking of such a thing or if you think he's untouchable.
Trade him for Ed E and any 3 players in Toronto's system?

No. And no.
Though, EdE would look amazing in this lineup right now, batting cleanup. Sleepy do-nothing Walt obviously erred in shipping him off. Rolen, as good as he was for this team, could have likely been obtained for far less.

EdE needed a change of scenery. He got one. That ship has sailed...

How exactly could have Walt have picked up Rolen for a less than EE who was so bad at the time Toronto later waived him and no one, including the Reds, bothered to claim him? What better versions of that trade were actually available? I have always been curious what better versions of that trade were actually proposed and available to the Reds in reality land.
OK.
You're nuts! And crazy on top of that. In fact, you're a total idiot, not to mention a complete moron. How could you think such a thing?
Seriously, I'm hoping this was just sort of tongue in cheek, making this suggestion. I fully understand that the club seems to be floundering, but we really ought to lock down the RZ windows to keep folks off of these high ledges. Oy.

Maybe in 7 years, but definitely not now. It would probably not look very good to other players that would consider signing LTCs with the Reds.
no! I don´t want to trade our best player, who´s a great guy with a great work motivation
NO.
Get off the ledges people.
"I tried to play golf, but I found out I wasn't very good." -Joey Votto on his offseason hobby search
An MLB.com reporter asked what one thing Votto couldn’t do. “I can’t skate or play hockey,” Votto said. “Well, I can skate ... but I can’t stop.”

Are there any somewhat realistic scenarioes where you would be ok with Votto being traded though?
I think if I woke up tomorrow to find out Votto was traded for Paul Goldshmidt, Adam Eaton and Patrick Corbin I would be OK with that.

Why would you trade your greatest offensive strength? Trade Votto and you weaken the offense further. The Reds do need help offensively but this isn't the way to do it.

I have not a single untouchable... every red (even my favourite players) can be traded if the return makes the team better...
I care more about the front of the jersey than I do about the back
but I doubt someone would give that much for Votto that it would be smart to trade him!

The only reason to trade Votto if you are the Reds is if you decide you want to tank the next few years and play for 2019. I hope that is not the strategy anymore.
