266? That's the lowest OPS I've ever seen

Votto would be the best choice for every lineup position.

It would be like Bugs Bunny plaing against the Gas House Gorillas

I never thought it was fair for the Gorillas to use trees as bats. Those Carrot League rules are wacky.

By the way, the Reds' SLG out of the third spot is currently 4th in the league.

This is a better idea than all these combinations Dusty is trying to magically make work.

Nobody can deny Joey has lost most of the pop that made him an ideal 3 hole hitter. He will get it back, but for now why not put your 2 best OBP guys in front of your 2 best run producing guys? Sure, the bottom 5 will be garbage but there's not much anyone other than Walt can do about that right now.

Fact: Currently 11th in the NL in SLG.

Opinion: the rumors of a lack of power from Joey has been greatly exaggerated. Not going to deny its down, but there are people on this site that think Joey has become a slap hitter (you know who you are out there). This is simply not true.

The guy had 15 HR and a .506 SLG at the All-Star break. Seems like pretty good pop to me. I still think putting him in the 2 hole makes sense, but not because he's lost pop necessarily.

Without a really hot 10 day stretch in May those numbers would look much more pedestrian. I can't look it up now, but I was told he's only had 1 game with multiple extra base hits since early June.

Are you saying his value right now is more about slugging or getting on base? No matter what the answer, either way he should be hitting behind Choo IMO.

But is 21st in ISO, 1 slot directly behind Hunter Pence.

I mean yeah he's still good with the pop, but lets not misrepresent here.

Those 10 day hot streaks are how baseball works. It wasn't an accident or a fluke. Every players numbers are influenced by 10 day hot streaks, or 10 day cold streaks.
