WSJ: Baseball is slow and boring

"By WSJ calculations, a baseball fan will see 17 minutes and 58 seconds of action over the course of a three-hour game."

Good grief. How many times has this article been written before? And definitely not the last either.

17:58? That's down right action packed compared to the NFL.

Dear Wall Street Journal - your publication is boring and makes me feel constipated.
    Stick to your guns.

That's more action than with my significant other so I'm quite happy

Nfl is 12 minutes of action. The breaks in football are all unnecessary. They are just for commercials. Sometimes you will see a commercial kickoff then another commercial. At least with baseball the breaks are natural to the game.

Well that's it... I'm through with the game, I didn't know I was being cheated until I read "The Journal"

WSJ: Baseball is slow and boring
Hey, I'm slow and boring too. Actually it's only boring until it's not, of course.

Me and baseball are a good match!
    sorry we're boring

Article aside, I enjoy a game with a faster pace. I used to love to watch them when Browning pitched. The game is way slower than it used to be. Too many pitching changes and too many batters walking around instead of standing in the batter's box. IMHO.

That said, I'd rather watch a slow Reds win than a fast Reds loss.

That's the thing, Baseball is slow and boring; then its not, and that is what makes the game great.

I think that line should be credited to the great Pos, but it could be another writer, not sure exactly.

Re: WSJ: Baseball is slow and boring

I think it is fun to read that article... I never thought that time between pitches take that long (I donīt care because I donīt think it is boring) but it is fun to see some "facts" about the game..

we canīt really talk about "facts" because a 3 game sample size isnīt that good

The randomness and unpredictability of baseball hardly make it boring. Anyone that suggests otherwise doesn't grasp what the game is all about.

I hear this all the time from friends, family and work cohorts who are not "into it like most of us are".

I guess they just "don't get it like we do". Or we are all sick and/or have deep rooted issues!

Re: WSJ: Baseball is slow and boring

    Boring? No.
    Slow? Most definitely.

I also miss the days when Tom Browning would finish a game in 2 hours; and curse guys like Sean Casey and Jonny Gomes who took what seemed like minutes between pitches.

Something must be done to get games back in the 2:00 to 2:30 range. What? I don't know. But slow play is killing my other favorite game as well, golf.
