The other alternative, other than moving up the middle of the order, is to use the left fielder in the second slot. Paul has slumped, but he is a decent hitter with a good OBP. DRob has real speed which can help. Heisey seems to be hitting now (famous last words).
I agree with you that the most important issue is that Cozart (and the Reds catchers) really shouldn't be in a contender's lineup at all. Cozart, Mesoraco, and Hanigan haven't been major league hitters this year so far.
To me, though, the batter between Choo and Votto is very important. And the Reds have messed it up. The Ludwick injury hurt but when you have two OBP beasts you need to keep these rallies alive. So i am sympathetic to the argument being made.
