And the worst candidate to bat 2nd is......batting 2nd. Again.

I predict the Reds at least split the series, if not win it outright.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Here's hoping that Heisey stays hot.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

I don't know. On July 1st the Reds beat the Giants 8-1. We can just call the game now. Reds win, 8-1 over the Braves.

    Great game, everybody!

there's nothing like bowling a 300 game! 13 now and retired.

May we please have a one-game moratorium on the "Reds stink" and the "Reds don't stink" commentary? It really detracts from the enjoyment of the game thread. I think by now everyone knows where everyone else stands on that particular issue. Thanks in advance.

3 of 4 is a must with the cards playing the cubs.

If the Braves offered the Reds a split in this series, I'd shake hands and let the All-Star break begin.

Braves have best home record in baseball and Reds are in a funk. Absolutely, I would take a split. Tonight's game is important one in the series as it is a favorable match up for the Reds. Let's get a Win!

Agreed. And if anyone wants to complain about Cozart hitting 2nd, well it's not going to change.

But Reds manager Dusty Baker has no plans on dropping Cozart in the order.

“I already had him down in the order,” Baker said. “I had down in the seventh hole probably half the time.”

Actually, Thursday was the 63rd time Cozart hit second. He’s hit seventh 17 times, eighth twice and ninth once.

Cozart has been better in the two spot (.253/.280/.370) than the seven spot (.150/.179/.333)

“You’ve got to learn some kind of way,” Baker said. “Someday, he’s going to be an excellent second hitter. We’re teaching guys how to hit at the big league level. There’s a difference between swinging and hitting.”
