It's a shame registerthis doesn't post here anymore. I don't recall him, but from reading through the Arroyo trade thread he brought a lot to the board.

This is a good one given the recent hand-wringing over Zach Duke.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

The draft pick is going to make things tricky with him.

Forget free agency, would you trade the Reds 2014 first round pick for an Arroyo that is signed for 3 yrs 36 million?

That is what the teams pursuing him in free agency would be doing. Makes you think about things.

Funny that nobody selected secret answer #3: they both stunk.

The Reds only played half of Hatteberg though.

I posted a couple of times something to the effect of "any trade that ends with Scott Hatteberg as your starting first baseman is a horrible, horrible trade."

I had irrational dislikes of both Hatteberg and Aurilia. My Joe Randa hate was completely justified though.

I loathed the Joe Randa signing. Still loathe it!
