Jim Day is pretty bad, but at least he leaves most of the goofy act and corny jokes in the pre/post-game shows. He's a lot better than he used to be at PBP.

I remember sometime around 2005-2006, he had to fill-in for some reason, and he was awful. So bad in fact I think they brought in Dan Hoard to replace him.

One thing I like about Day is when he says, "And not a productive out." Too bad it seems like he says it 10 times a game.

Today he says "A base hit up the middle" as the SS fields the ball routinely and throws out Phillips at first.

That reminds me of Harry Caray, who called everything "a drive" in his last few years. I particularly remember him screaming, "There's a drive ... fielded by Cey who throws him out at first."

Saw that. Still prefer him to Thom.

I prefer fingernails on a blackboard to Thom.

I'll take Jim Day any day of the week over Jim Kelch or Thom. Kelch's voice drives me up the wall.

Because Marty and son are on vacation and Kelch and the Cowboy are on radio. There was no one left to use.

    Didn't I post that earlier?

The Reds have to be coming close to setting a record for largest stable of announcers in baseball history. Off the top of my head, I'm coming up with 8 people who have called games (either radio or TV) for the team in just THIS season.

We might be able to get it to 10. Have Doug Flynn or Joe Morgan worked games this year?

I feel like Tim Kremcheck probably worked his usual game in Spring, but I don't recall it specifically and I'm not certain what the rules are for counting that as an "official" announcer appearance.

Also, (in the style of the dmbalmanac) -- announcers who have appeared in previous tours but have yet to debut this year:

    - Kent Mercker
    - Dan Hoard
    - Paul Keels
    - Doug Flynn
    - Joe Morgan

Reds have a very large number of part time broadcasters. It seems as if none of them are full time.

Vin Scully is jealous, as the Dodgers keep chaining an 97 yo man to the broadcasting chair, and forcing him to do 9 innings of work, day after flippin day, for 6 months. Since 1937, or thereabouts.

    By himself.

I'm still giddy over the fact that we got a Warehouse opener at Riverbend!

If Paul Keels ever broadcasts another game again I think I'll become a Cardinals fan.

I'd sooner become a fan of the Ebola virus than be a cardinals fan.
