11 games over .500 at the all star break isn't meh. 11 games over .500 at the all star break when many fans thought 2013 was going to be a runaway campaign for the Reds isn't meh. It's just creating exciting games with real meaning in Sept. Seriously, the last time the Reds were playing must win baseball (seemingly every day in Sept) was the pythag lucky 2006 team. This year's finish is going to be great to watch.

Has anyone heard when Ludwick will be able to start a rehab assignment? Hopefully he doesn't have another slow start to his year.

Plus, I get back to America in early August and get to go to to the ball park for the first time in way too long! First rounds on me if any redszone brethren want to come partake (by first round I mean I will smuggle beer in and pass them out via my fat man pants distribution system).

It might yield and exciting finish or it might not. If the current pace holds, we might find ourselves out of the division race in Sept, but well out in front of the WC. Which means we might be sitting around for weeks waiting on the one game playoff.

St. Louis has had 3 starting pitchers on the DL -- 2 of them the 60-day DL. They have also lost their closer and leadoff man for the season. 2 other relievers and their 3B have also been on the DL.

There are those who enjoy a race that is neck and neck (and neck) right to the finish line. And there are those who want the race to be a blowout as soon as the starting gun is fired.

As for me, I'm enjoying that the Reds are part of an amazingly competitive division. It's exciting.

The Reds pretty much cruised in 2010 and 2012 and lost in the first round. Maybe playing meaningful games in September will yield better results in October?

We trail 1st place in the Central by as many games as the next team trails the last WC spot. (Which is 5)

I think that our current situation of "3rd place" looks and sounds much, much worse than it really is. Our chances of winning the division are greater than what it's been made out to be.
