    Minor League Updates: Thursday 7/18/2013

Louisville is on the road at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Billy Hamilton is out of the lineup, mostly likely due to the AAA ASG was out in Reno last night.

    Chad Reineke with a so-so effort. 6IP 9H 4R 4ER 0BB 3K.

The hitters are off to a sluggish start. Three hits in six innings. A double by Hessman and singles by Phipps and Rodriguez. Bats trail after six 4-zip.

Middle of the eighth and it is now 8-0. And Louisville still has just three hits.
Kanekoa Texeira has pitched one scoreless inning. His contract was just purchased on July 4th from the Bridgeport Bluefish. This is his fourth appearance and he is unscored upon in five innings of work. Kevin Whelan has been torched for at least four runs so far in the bottom of the eighth.
Mike Hessman and Denis Phipps both add singles in the ninth but the Bats are blanked 8-0. Hessman and Phipps were both 2-4 in the contest.

Pensacola is playing host to Huntsville.

Daniel Renken has allowed a run on three hits through four innings of work.

The Blue Fish have yet to score. Ryan LaMarre has two singles. Travis Mattair has stroked a pair of double. Yorman Rodriguez has singled. That's it. Pensacola trails 1-0 after four full.

After six it is still 1-0. Devin Lohman has singled and Travis Mattair, now 3-3, has added a single as well. He is now 13-20 in his last six games.

Renken was the hard-luck loser. He surrendered a single run in the first and Huntsville pitching made it stand up. Renken's line: 6IP 3H 1R 1ER 4BB 4K. Lee Hyde and Josh Ravin combined to pitch three shutout innings in relief.

Travis Mattair finished 3-4 with a pair of doubles.
Ryan LaMarre finished 2-3 with a walk.

    Dayton is home against Beloit.

    Ismael Guillon went 4+ ragged innings. 4IP 6H 3R 3ER 3BB 5K 2WP.
Tony Amezcua has come on to work two scoreless frames.

Beau Amaral singled to lead things off in the first and eventually scored on a Mejias-Brean double. Daniel Pigott and Brandon Dailey have doubled as well. Dragons trail 3-1 in the middle of the sixth.

Dayton closed the gap to 3-2 on Daniel Pigott's second double of the game followed by Tanner Rahier's single.

Michael Lorenzen worked a hitless frame. He walked a batter and struck out a batter. Dayton trails 3-2.

Dayton tied it at 3 on Diaz single, a Winker walk and a Mejias-Brean single. It stayed tied up at 3 until a wild ninth inning.

Joel Bender gives up three runs in the top of the ninth to break the 3-all tie. And he somehow ends up the winning pitcher as Dayton scores four times in the bottom half of the ninth.
Walks to Humberto Valor, Sammy Diaz and Jesse Winker juice the bases and set the stage for a walk-off grand slam off the bat of Seth Mejias-Brean. Dayton wins 7-6.

Sammy Diaz 1-4 with a walk and two runs scored.
Jesse Winker was hitless but drew three walks and scored a run.
Daniel Pigott went 2-4, two doubles and a run scored.
Seth Mejias-Brean went 3-5 with a double, a grand slam, one run scored and six knocked in.

    Billings is hosting Grand Junction.

Pedro Diaz was smacked around for three runs in the top of the first on four hits and a walk. Billings has yet to bat in the home half of the first as they trail 3-0. Diaz has settle down working a scoreless second and third. Billings got on the board as Ronald Bueno (.356) singled, stole second and was chased home by Gabriel Rosa's single. Grand Junction 3 Billings 1 after three.

Billings trails 9-3 after six full.

Pedro Diaz and Nolan Becker were each roughed up for multiple runs.

Mejias-Brean strikes again. Dayton down 3 in the ninth, loads the bases on walks, SMB unloads for a walkoff slam. Quite the hot fellow lately.

The manager of this team has to adjust the order of the lineup. You have your hottest hitters batting in the bottom half of the lineup. To have so many players LOB and score zero runs means something's wrong!

I was at that wild Dragons game. Ridiculous heat + Guillon working sllllooooowwwwly = almost 4 hour game.

I bet Winker didn't see more than 2 decent pitches to hit all night. They were pitching around him almost every ab.

South African John Patrick Lewis-Walker pitched the final two stanzas for the Mustangs, allowing one run. On the year, the twenty-year old has worked eight innings. He has allowed six hits, walked just one batter and struck out eight.

Billings rallied late, scoring five runs in the last two innings but it wasn't enough as they fell 10-8.

Gabriel Rosa went 2-4. A single, a double, a walk, two runs scored, one driven in.
Carlos Sanchez went 2-5. Two singles, one run scored, two ribbies.
