    Re: San Fran/ At&T Stadium

Well we had a great time in SF.

Alcatraz was very cool. Bad thing was we went during "fly season" where flies would land on bare skin constantly and annoy the heck out of you. I was amazed how small the actual prison was. I expected it to be the 3-4 times the size it actually was. It makes the escape from the Clint Eastwood movie that much more impressive. I am a law bidding citizen and have never stolen anything in my life, but I did think how cool it would be to get busted stealing from the Alcatraz Gift Shop.

Irish Coffee at The Buena Vista Café was very tasty.

I crossed off a bucket list item and had an "In N Out" hamburger. It was pretty darn good but the French fries were lousy.

Sausalito was ok, more of a chic type area but they did have a great sports picture place.

Ate at the Franciscan at Fishermans Wharf. It was tasty.

Pier 39 was cool. The Sea Lion fascination thing I couldn't get.

I posted in another thread about seeing Yusmeiro Petit losing the Perfect game in the 9th with a 2-2 count and 2 outs. At&T Park though is pretty amazing. The seats I would guess are as close to the diamond as any stadium I have been to including the upper deck. The stadium sound was really good and just the whole atmosphere was great. I didn't get to see to much of the whole park because we were so into the potential perfect game of course. Around the 6th inning Mrs Anderson suggested we do a quick tour of the stadium. With one eye on the field and the other on the stadium we did a real quick walk thru. Other than the small corridors the place was darn near perfect.

We missed out on getting tickets for Raisors birth reenactment. I guess in order to attend the event you have to get tickets a good year in advance. But let me tell you the people we saw that attended the event were in total shock. Women were weaping uncontrollably with joy and the few men who weren't also crying just stared in total disbelief after seeing such an incredible experience. One guy did briefly comment that he felt the T shirts and refrigerator magnets were a little over priced.

One cool thing that happened was I got to meet the former scheduling secretary for the 90' Reds. His name is Joel Pieper and he worked for the travel agency that was in charge of our group. I found out who he was in casual conversation and he provided lotsa good stories about Marge, Browning, Pete and so many others during his time with the Reds. After our conversation he told me my baseball and Reds knowledge was frightening. Yea I'm bragging but he said it! It made up for me missing the BRM reunion that weekend and the near Perfect Game thing with Petit.

    Thanks for the SF info!!!

In-n-Out fries are lousy. Yes, the cut up potatoes right there -- and then make them into crappy fries.

I just get two double-doubles and a shake.

Throw grilled onions, thousand island dressing, and a melted slice of cheese on their fries and they'll do the job.
