Let's face it, the sun doesn't shine bright enough to provide Phillips with the spotlight he craves.

I think that was partially his way of saying that he was BS'ing the reporter.

As a former journalist myself, I strongly disagree with this. Though perhaps thats why I'm a former journalist.

But really, it's hard to say that any of the quotes were taken out of context. Instead they were included in their full context.

I do think it's notable that the two "juicy" Reds articles this year(this one and the Chapman one earlier this year) were in Cincinnati Magazine.

The profiles were more long form than the standard beat stories, and the interviews done for them were much more in depth than a regular beat writer or even newspaper columnist would be.

The interviews were likely longer conversations and the journalist in both cases got Chapman and Phillips to let their guards down.

Who knows what effect, if any, this will have on the team. But Brandon really didn't need to say some of those things.

We should all have it as rough as BP has it. Poor guy, I don't know how he's able to force a smile all the time.

The more I read Votto's comments the more I feel like he should be holding up a news paper to show the date and saying "I am being treated very well by my captors and I feel the American government needs to apologize......"

The more I think about this, the more sympathy I have for BP. Not because he was correct to say it (very foolish) but because I think this might just be a case of "over-sharing" and, given what we already know and love about this player -- that he wears his heart on his sleeve at all times, for better or worse -- I don't see how we are surprised. I would imagine his teammates already know this as well and Votto's response says as much.

I think this will blow over rather quickly. May have already.
