I'm pretty sure they did waste him. It was senseless to even start the game.

Not surprised considering their handling of the SF rainout...

Of all the things the Reds have done in my time as a fan, this has to be one of the dumbest. Are they not capable of reading radar? Anybody with half a brain knew the rain was coming. Yet, the Reds (who control the game until it starts) allow the game to start only to go into a rain delay 1/2 inning into the game. If this thing last long enough for Mat Latos to be done for the day, somebody is going to have some explaining to do. Absolutely stupid.
This is the ol Left Hander rounding third and heading for home.

I really have no idea why they started the game.

Is Bob Boone in charge of reading the weather reports?

I didn't even walk over to the park yet because anyone down here knew this was coming. If the conditions weren't enough, the giant red splotch on the radar was a pretty big clue. I'll have a nice dinner at home and then go catch the game. Simply inexcusable to burn Latos for 1 inning.

And we'll get the dumbest answer of all-time and it will somehow be completely acceptable.

Helmet day at US Cellular: it's July and 80+ and sunny, let's give the kids a black plastic helmet to wear!

The Reds can no longer afford radar and weather reports. They truly did spend all of their money signing Phillips.

It is somewhat traditional to have starting pitchers start the game

In in SE Indiana right near the tri-state border and it was *pouring* here right as the game was starting.

I'm maybe a half hour drive to the stadium, tops, and if it was doing that here, I don't know what they were expecting to happen in the city.
