But it is basically one of the guiding premises among the stat crowd of the last 15 years or so. How often has the concept of pitch to contact been goofed on, here and everywhere?

Drat! Heisey blasts one, but McCutcheon has room.

For his entire career, it was 1.77. But during his peak years, it was usually around or over 2.0

And Phillips strikes out. Still 1-1 after six.

And the heart of our order goes down on seven pitches.

That went pretty well, I'd say.
They don't think it be like it is, but it do.

    productive inning
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

A 7 pitch inning.....ridiculous. Locke walked 2 in a row and threw a WP last inning, and Heisey and Phillips go up there and hack away at first pitches. Inexcusable.
