Is this the first time this series the Pirates have led?

With Reds sporting a MLB-worst 54% success rate in SB, I'm thinking they shouldn't bother at all, regardless of batting order or handed ness of the pitcher. Lord, I didn't know it was that bad.

Reds go 1-2-3 in the 2nd.

Pirates's first batter in the 3rd is on with a base hit.

Good that Bailey didn't allow men on base before the homer. Bad that Reds don't see to hit home runs anymore.

Locke is going to regress something fierce here soon. I hope it starts today.

I don't mind if Derrick Robinson tries a steal here and there. He's very fast. But they run with Choo much too much.

He will, but I don't think it's going to be the crash landing that folks suspect. His stuff is for real, and the home run ball isn't what it used to be.

Homer finding that extra velocity has really allowed him to be effective up in the zone.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Amazing how last year we played great fundamental baseball and never beat ourselves. This year, not so much.

    Great pitching there to McCutchen.

Homer's looking pretty good today (despite the one mistake last inning)

Nice strategy having Locke on the base paths all inning....
