Re: What is Votto's Market Value?

Hey Heisey, the next time that you hit a two out triple, just remember who is hitting behind you.......I mean, at the very least get yourself caught in a rundown trying to cross the plate. Votto's 4 pitch strikeout there was worse than anything Cozart (or even Leake for that matter) has done all year.

Heck, when there are "runners in scoring position", I would much rather see them pinch-hit Hannahan!!!

Pac, my suggestion would be NOT to post in threads while watching games. Rampant emotionalism doesn't make you a better poster.

Trading him now is a bit foolish anywho. Over the next two year he has very team friendly salary due to him.

Casey wad playing in the biggest hitting era ever though. The game has changed as well as the value of a run.

Here is the list of players making 20M+ this year. How many would you rather have, based solely on this year's performance, than Votto?

    Alex Rodriguez 28M
    Johna Santana 25.5M
    Cliff Lee 25M
    Joe Mauer 23M
    Prince Fielder 23M
    Mark Teixeira 22.5M
    Tim Lincecum 22M
    Adrian Gonzalez 21M
    Miguel Cabrera 21M
    Vernon Wells 21M
    Matt Kemp 20M
    Ryan Howard 20M
    Justin Verlander 20M
    Roy Halladay 20M
    Barry Zito 20M
    Matt Cain 20M
    Carl Crawford 20M

The Reds will overpay Joey for the length of his contract. I'm just hoping they end up on the plus side over the next 6-7 years because the hangover in the out years of that contract is going to be ugly.

Do you really consider this year's .304 avg, 22HR, & 66RBI to be "on the plus side" ??

Joey is making 17M this year. His performance is in line with that paycheck.

I think you are going to have to come to terms that you can finish in the top5-10 in MVP voting and still be worth 15-20M. You don't have to actually win the MVP every year to justify that salary any longer.

It is surprising (or disturbing) how many players didn't have their best year (or even a pretty bad year by their standards) but are still making that much money. And A-Rod is just ridiculous (the man and the money he makes).
