Since you guys are playing the stat game. Has anybody ever won a gold glove, a silver slugger, and led the league in RBI in the same season and not won the MVP?
This is the ol Left Hander rounding third and heading for home.

Izturis on now with a base hit, and a chance to keep the every-inning scoring streak alive.

And the double play erases that. Ah well, it was fun while it lasted.

Probably. I don't know where to look up something like that though.

I did check out Griffey. He led the league once in RBI and won the MVP. Of course he won a GG and SS in a year where he drove in 146, 140 and 134 and finished 4th twice and 10th the other time.

Me either. I'm not saying Phillips should be the MVP but he certainly has a shot to do all three.

Did Palmeiro's 148 RBIs in 99 lead the league?

    If so, then he did.

You think his RBI totals get him SS over Carpenter?

Would you take a pitcher that pitches here versus GABP who had "better numbers" too without considering where they pitch?

Lost in the offensive explosion tonight is how timely it was for Bronson Arroyo to get this deep into the game. The Reds needed that badly. It's just a shame the Reds scored so many runs that Bochy was able to save his own pen a bit.

If he had thrown more innings, struck out more hitters, had a better WHIP, and a better ERA? Absolutely.

If Capenter gets penalized for playing a third of his game somewhere other than 2B, yes.

Nope. Manny had 165 that season...
