Do you think that there is any chance we could keep Choo on this team?

His offensive value is really huge and he is a prime reason why we are in this position(13 games over .500) now despite the absence of Ludwick, etc.

Last year: 12th in OBP and 9th in Run
This year: 2nd in OBP and 3rd in Run

It's a massive improvement and I think that we will never find a better leadoff-hitter than Choo and will never be able to replace his production.

In fact, he is the best leadoff hitter right now in all of baseball, not so arguably.

    In MLB, Choo is 12th in OPS(.907), 6th in RC(78.7), 6th in wRAA(30.4), 10th in wOBA(.399) and 8th in wRC+(155).

    Well, what do you think?

Not much of a chance,IMO. He's a Boras client for one thing. Boras likes his clients to be in the open market. About the only chance is if the Reds do a qualifying offer to Choo and he goes against Boras wishes and takes that. I highly doubt that happens.

Gonna have to make a a giant off season move then. Choo is the kind of guy you need to do anything you can to bring back. This sucks

How long and how high do you go for him? At what point do you walk away from him if the deal or money gets out of control?

I'd love to see him back in a Reds uniform, but where's he play?

With Boras as his agent things get tough which is why it sucks. I dont see them getting anything done unless choo just tells boras No this is where im playing. Choo is probably going to get more than he is worth, but i guess one can argue he is worth a hell of a lot to the Reds right now

But what do you mean wheres he play? Same as now

I think we could get him. Arroyo's contract is up, Masset's contract is up soon, and a new tv deal looming could clear some money for a Choo deal. I know it is just as important to sign our rotation guys too though as well as the escalation of Votto and Phillips contracts. But how can you let possibly the best leadoff hitter in the game leave? Boras is his agent, but maybe get Phillips and Frazier to start to sweet talk him into staying, as long as DatDude doesn't slap him in the face if the deal is too low

You make room for choo imo.

Choo is one of the best players to wear a reds uniform in the past few seasons.

And this year i find him either our MVP or second best to phillips.

Votto is not the same player imo as he was his mvp season. The changes hes made at the plate are for the worst. He needs to relearn his role.

I guess in short. I say we win less games if votto would to go down with a injury right now. Than we would if the same happened to choo.

We have to find a way to keep him around if we to stay a team thats on top year after year. Hes just to vital to this teams success.

No chance and it would be dumb to try.

Votto doesn't need to "re-learn" anything. He is incredible.

I am just going to start putting posters on ignore who have the idea that somehow Joey isn't "doing his job."

    Really?

Go read this, it explains my own stance far more eloquently than I ever could. John Erardi + Joel Luckhaupt = 110% correct on this:

I'd rather re-sign Arroyo and lose Choo. Would love to keep both.
