I do miss those at-bats of his. It was like watching the Science of baseball. You could see his mind outhinking the opposing pitcher, catcher and manager. Something he did against that pitcher two years ago (and pitchers remember every opponent's plate appearance, too) was done on purpose for this particular moment).

    Rocco's OPS is now a stout 729

If Devin is really putting it together, it is all sorts of good news.

    The state of Atlanta
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Depends on the score and if Cingrani is still in the game. You can't switch catchers on your starter in the middle of the game.

Don't disagree with the general idea, though. Long way to go.

I understood Dusty wants Corky to catch the new kid because they've worked together in AAA

Unfortunately, Cingrani looks off tonight. Four runs probably won't be enough.

It's always been a matter of when he takes over full-time, not if. When he was drafted, the expected time-line for him to take over full-time was about six years. Mesoraco remained on that pace the entire time with a bump in the road because of the wrist injury. Being a Catcher and the way he's been brought along, he'll continue to improve for many years to come.

That makes sense too. Could actually do the reverse and only have Corky is while Reynolds is pitching in game 2.

and his CS has to be a "little" less --- but a good throw might not have been enough this time

Makes total sense. It's one of the reasons why I wanted Rick Sweet to be the REDS' Manager before Dusty got his last extension.
