    Minor League Updates: Tuesday 7/22/2013

    Louisville at Syracuse:

Chad Reineke on the mound tonight. He has yielded two runs so far in five innings of work. He has allowed five hits, no walks and struck out five.

Nevin Ashley walked and scored on a Billy Hamilton double for the Bats' only run of the game.

    2-1 Louisville trails after five.

Felix Perez doubled and tried to score on a Denis Phipps single but was gunned down by the centerfielder.

Louisville wastes a solid effort by Reineke. 6IP 6H 2R 2ER 1BB 5K. Nick Christiani and Zach Duke get roughed up in the eight for four runs to make it a 6-1 deficit. Duke gave up three runs, the first runs of any kind he has allowed in 15 games since being coming to Louisville.

Bats rallied for four of their own in the top of the ninth but fall a run short, losing 6-5.

Perez singled, Ashley singled and Donald singled to score a run. Negron then walked to juice the bases. Hamilton plated a pair with his second double of the evening. A ground out made it 6-5 with the tying run on third. But they could not get him home.

    Hamilton - 2 for 5. Two doubles. 3 RBI.
    Perez - 2 for 4. A single. A double. 1 RS.
    Ashley - 1 for 3. A single. A walk. 2 RS.
    Donald - 2 for 3. 2 singles. A walk. 1 RS. 1 RBI.

Re: Minor League Updates: Tuesday 7/22/2013

    Pensacola is at Mississippi.

Shaun Ellis started and gave up two runs in the first on three hits. One run was unearned due to an error on a pickoff attempt by Ellis.

Pensacola got a run back in the top of the second. Lutz singled, moved to third on a Tucker Barnhart single and scored on a ground out.

Pensacola trails 2-1 after an inning and a half.

Ellis allows an unearned run in the second and three in the third - two earned and another unearned. Chris Manno goes two innings, give up a hit while striking out three.

Yorman Rodriguez has a single in three trips.

Parker Frazier will take over in the sixth for the Blue Fish in his first appearance as a Reds' farmhand. He gives up two singles but keeps Mississippi off the board in the inning. Pensacola trails 6-1.
Frazier goes 1.2 innings. He gave up three hits, walked one and fanned three.

Pensacola gets two in the top of the eighth. Yorman strokes his second single on the night. Humberto Valor, making his first appearance for the Wahoos, gets plunked. Barnhart doubles them both home to cut the lead to 6-3.
Drew Hayes is in the process of giving those runs back in the bottom half of the inning. And, yes, Hayes did give both of them back. Blue Fish are behind 8-3 going into the ninth. Game now over.

Yorman Rodriguez (.289) 2 for 4. Two singles. One RS.
    Tucker Barnhart (.278) 2 for 3. A single. A double. A walk. Two RBI.

    Orem is at Billings.

Orem hung a 4-spot on Pedro Diaz in the third.

The Mustangs have a lone single by Taylor Terrasas.

Billings is down 4-zip in the middle of the fourth.

Pedro Diaz went five lackluster innings. Layne Somsen has thrown two hitless frames. His ERA is down to 0.51.

The Mustangs struck for three in the fifth to make it a one-run game. Ronald Bueno and Avain Rachel walked. Ervin then hit a three-run jack.

Somsen leaves with one-out and the bases full in the eighth. Abed de los Santos comes on and walks in a pair. Orem leads 6-3 late.

AZL Reds are at home and facing a rehabilitating Ryan Vogelsong and the AZL Gigantes.

Jeremy Kivel has given up a run in the top of the first. 1-0 after a half inning of play.

Vogelsong pitched two shutout innings and is now on the way to the airport to catch a flight to San Francisco.

Kivel ran into trouble in the fourth, allowing two runs. Soid Marquez has taken over pitching duties. He has gone a perfect 1.2 innings, striking out three. Marquez was a touted international signing. His ERA now stands at 1.15. For the season now he has hurled 15.2 innings. He has allowed just seven hits and three walks. He has fanned 14.
Marquez with another perfect frame and another K. He works another 1-2-3. 3.2 innings of perfection. ERA now 1.02.
Four singles, a double and no runs for the offense. 3-0 Gigantes in the middle of the sixth.

The Gigantes strike for three in the eighth and lead 6-0.
    Marquez's line: 4IP 1H 2R 2ER 1BB 4K.

AZL Reds pull off an impressive feat. They garner ten hits and cannot push across a single run.

Aristides Aquino, Shedric Long, Yonatan Suero and Cory Thompson each go 2 for 4 with a pair of singles each.

Bakersfield is at Modesto and the home team is going Nuts. They lead 3-0 early.

Three out of the four Juans-keteers have singles so far - Silva, Silverio and Duran. Perez has yet to join the party.

Perez has, however, committed an error which has led to two unearned runs.

James Allen is on the mound for the Blaze. Allen is pitching well but the sticks are staying silent. Still 3-0 Modesto.

Allen is finished for the night. 6IP 3H 3R 1ER 3BB 5K. Carlos Gonzalez is on the mound for the Blaze. Blaze battery is Gonzalez-Gonzalez.

Waldrop doubles. Yovan Gonzalez singles. 3-1.

Gonzalez coughs up two runs. 5-1 Modesto. 5-1 is the final. Juan Perez finally got his single.

Brooks Pinckard struck out the side in the 8th around a couple of walks.

Kyle Waldrop went 2-4. Two doubles. One run scored.
