Re: Thursday July 25th Minor League Updates

Dayton is at Lansing again tonight, which reminds me of one of my late dad's corny jokes he told us kids when we were young and stupid.

What is the biggest medical operation ever?
    Lansing Michigan of course.

Now to the details of the game.

Nick Travieso is starting and has posted three goose eggs so far.

Jesse Winker singled home Sammy Diaz in the first.
Ryan Ludwick walked and rode home on Seth Mejias-Brean's seventh long ball.

    Dayton leads 3-0.

Ludwick has reached base twice. Once on a walk and the other time on a catcher's interference.
A summer watching a bad Reds' team, is still a pretty good summer.

Pensacola is at Mississippi and the game is just getting underway.

Here's hoping Tim Crabbe walks the walk tonight.

Ludwick may be man enough to bat cleanup for the Reds, but when Seth Mejias-Brean is in the house . . .

Good to see Vincej back in the lineup tonight for Dayton. It's been about four weeks.

Edit: Check that--he was in it last night. I guess it was good to see him then, if you were actually looking.

Travieso pitches a fourth scoreless frame. Dayton tacks on a 3-spot and now leads 6-0.

Ryan Ludwick grounded out in his third at-bat of the game.

This tidbit caught my eye from the game log.

Sammy Diaz out on a sacrifice fly to center fielder Dalton Pompey. Zach Vincej scores. Beau Amaral scores.
Two runners scoring on a sac fly, how deep did he hit that ball?

Dayton's last two runs scored on walks to Winker and Gelalich followed by a double off the bat of Joe Hudson.
Chacin and Housey have hurled scoreless stanzas.
All Dragons going into the ninth as they lead 8-0.

Billings slapped Helena upside the head with five in the top of the first. Singles by Matthews, Washington, Ervin and Rachel got two home. Gabriel Rosa then hit a three-run jack. It was his third home run of the season.

Austin Salter is the beneficiary of the five-run outburst.

Tim Crabbe has now gone seven shutout innings and is at just 73 pitches. If the Wahoo can just somehow push across a run or two. Still 0-0 after seven.

DSL Evil Empires are thrashing the DSL Rojos to within an inch of their lives. It is 14-3 after seven. Sad details when the destruction is complete.

    Final score: 15-6.
Evil Empire scored in every inning so the only noteworthy pitching performance by the Rojos was turned in by Jose Heredia He faced four batters and walked them all.
The hitters fared a little better:
    Luis Gonzalez - 2 for 5. 2 singles.
    Olvis Jimenez - 3 for 3. 1 single. 2 doubles. 2 walks. 2 RS. 1 RBI.
    Daniel Jimenez - 2 for 5. 1 single. 1 triple. 2 RBI.
    Jose Monegro - 2 for 5. 1 single. 1 double. 2 RBI.
