A summer watching a bad Reds' team, is still a pretty good summer.

Billings gets a run back in the top of third on Ervin's fifth home run. 6-3 Mustangs. Ervin seems to be rebounding from his mini-slump quite nicely.
In his last ten games his line was: .306/.405/.611/1.016. That does not include his 2-2 tonight with a single and a home run.

Standing ovation for Tim Crabbe who hurled nine shutout innings. Unfortunately, Pensacola hitters seemingly have taken the night off. Free (scoreless to this point) baseball.

    Crabbe: 9IP 5H 0R 0ER 1BB 3K. 98 pitches.

Austin Salter out after three. Scott Brattvet pitched the fourth. Helena has scored in every inning so far. The 5-0 lead has been trimmed to 6-5.

    Bakersfield is at Modesto.

Shane Dyer coughs up a pair in the first. The Blaze get one back in the second on a Selsky double and a Wright single. Blaze trail 2-1 early.

    Pensacola falls 1-0.

Jamie Walczak comes on in the tenth and gives up a run.

Tim Crabbe is the hard-luck loser.

    Devin Lohman 2-5. 1 single. 1 double.
    Travis Mattair 2-4. 2 singles.

In a wild one, Billings strikes for two in the top of the fifth to make it an 8-5 score.

Ty Washington (.347) rolls a single to left. Philip Ervin leaves the yard for the second time tonight and sixth on the season.

Including his tonight's totals, Ervin's line is now: .316/.403/.564/.967.

Ervin went 4-for-4 with two HR (#5, 6) and a walk in Billings 12-11 win.
    I miss Adam Dunn.

DSL Orioles 8 DSL Reds 0.

Nothing of note. Every pitcher gave up at least two runs. The hitters only managed three singles.

Re: Thursday July 25th Minor League Updates

The Mustangs jumped out to a 12-5 lead and then perservered 12-11.

The pitching was nondescript with the exception of Joe Mantoni. The 18th-round selection in last month's draft struck out the side to earn his first save. The 22-year old righthander out of Merrimack College is posting some interesting numbers. 10.2IP 11H 0R 0ER 4BB 20K.

    Ty Washington (.360) 4-5. 3 singles. 1 double. 3 RS. 1 RBI.
    Philip Ervin (.322) 4-4. 2 singles. 2 home runs. 1 walk. 4 RS. 3 RBI.
    Jose Ortiz 2-5. 1 single. 1 double.
Ronald Bueno (.333) 1 single. 1 double. 1 RS. (And somehow they keep him in the 9 hole.)
Gabriel Rosa has a three-run blast.

    We're good again.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."
