Rumor is that Nate Silver will be part of the show. He's left the NYT for ESPN/ABC.

I like Olberman when he is talking about sports. When he quits talking about sports is when I change the channel.

The problem with Olbermann is that he's just an A-hole. Whether you agree with him politically or believe he's really good when he's talking about sports or even when he's talking with Dan Patrick, it's a well documented fact that he's an A-hole. Lots of successful people are like that. They are very good at what they do but they are major jerks.

I never liked him long before he left ESPN the first time. His stint on MSNBC just exposed what you and I had sensed (that he was an A hole)

I question calling him successful. He's been extremely fortunate

I have a feeling this show will be like the XFL.

The problem was that the XFL was not enough football for the people that liked football and it wasn't enough Wrestling for the guys who like wrestling.

Olberman's new show will try to stay away from politics, but my guess is it will have just enough to irritate the people he irritates with his politics and not enough to bring the people who enjoy listening to his political screeds.

Your metaphor may be apt but perhaps not for the reason you believe. I'm not sure that was the problem with the XFL. I think the problem was that no one wanted to see another football league with inferior players. I'm not so sure anyone wants to see another talk show with or without Olbermann.

One of the reasons Olbermann left ESPN was that he didn't want to work in Bristol. He also didn't like the way they treated his co-workers and most of all, he didn't get along with John Walsh. John Walsh is still there. Bristol may be more cosmopolitan than it was when Olbermann left but it's never going to be NYC. What can go wrong?
