    WEHT: Nick Masset?

Didn't hear a word about him at all in Spring Training. Granted, I paid literally no attention to Spring Training aside from reading here, but still. Is he still alive? Is there a search party out there for him?

More to the point, is he ever going to pitch again? Can't find anything about him. Guy has seemingly completely vanished without a trace.

It was his shoulder right? Don't think you can count on him. Even if he does come back how good will he be?

This was tacked on to the end of a Mark Sheldon blog entry 4/20:

    • Reliever Nick Masset, who missed all of last season with a torn anterior capsule in his right shoulder and had surgery in September, is no longer throwing. Masset was long tossing on flat ground throughout Spring Training, but has since had a setback. He is currently on a strengthening program.

It's certainly difficult to comeback from this surgery. My brief research forced me to have to exclude Johann Santana just to find other examples of folks who've had this surgery. Tim Byrdak is back pitching with the Mets and this appears to be the same surgery Mark Prior had. We know he's struggled to return to the game and whether he'll be called up anytime this season is obviously unknown.

It's not likely he'll pitch this season. I doubt he'll be with the Reds when, and if, he's ready to come back. Whether he'll ever be effective is anyone's guess.

Probably has made his last appearance in a Reds uniform.

More surgery for Masset. This will probably be the end of his career as a Red.

That's really a shame. He had terrific "stuff." His command was hit or miss, but I loved watching him when he was 'on.'

What I know about Masset is that the Reds gave his uniform number #40 to Greg Reynolds!

Not a good sign for Nick's future with the club.
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.

So has this been Masset's problem all along and the Reds meds went over two years without beong able to figure it out?
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

July 31, 2008: Traded by the Chicago White Sox with Danny Richar to the Cincinnati Reds for Ken Griffey and cash.
And that was fair market value for Junior at the time. Sad.

Then again, not sure Phil Nevin would have done much here either.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

Or CF Brian Anderson from the White Sox.
