I hope he pitches in every remaining game we have with them. Dude's done.

That, or he'll get the Cy Young in 2014...one of the two.

Don't know if this is good news or bad news but the Cards just acquired John Axford from the Brew Crew per MLBTradeRumors

I definitely was not expecting the Reds to stand completely pat in-season this year. Not a complaint - I just figured with the "win now" mentality going into the season there would be a trade or two.

He'll return to his first time around closer form for sure now. Be popping fastballs at 99 and snapping off 12/6 curves now that he is with the smartest baseball org. on the planet.

I agree but I don't think they were many fits for the Reds. The Ludwick injury threw a wrench in the plans for trading for a RF. The Reds have been good but inconsistent so outside of 3rd base and RF, I don't know where the Red's could have added.

I would say sweet, but now that he's a Card he'll go on some record breaking scoreless inning streak and only allow 3 hits the rest of the season...

On the bright side of things, whatever "magic" the Cards will work with Axford won't kick in over the next week's time, so we can look forward to an additional round of batting practice when he pitches in the upcoming series with the Cards.

You just jinxed it....now that he's wearing the "birds (pooping) on a bat" uniform he'll instantly transform into prime Billy Wagner.

Reds-killer Kubel back in the AL. Hopefully he'll stay there.

Reds Designate Justin Freeman For Assignment

By Zach Links [August 30 at 6:34pm CST]

The Reds announced that they have designated Justin Freeman for assignment. In a corresponding move, the club has promoted Zach Duke to the big league roster.

Freeman, 26, saw just one inning of action for the Reds this season when he faced the Phillies on April 17th. In six minor league seasons in the Reds system, the right-handed reliever owns a 3.57 ERA with 8.4 K/9 and 2.1 BB/9.

Shocked to read this little part of mlbtraderumors..
The Dodgers signed Edinson Volquez shortly after he was cut loose by the Padres, but there were plenty of other suitors. The pitcher says that he chose L.A. over the Reds, Rays, Orioles, Phillies, and "a couple more" teams, tweets Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times. Volquez added that he's willing to start or relieve for the Dodgers.
