    Partch to AAA; Villarreal up

    per the Reds facebook page
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

Villareal is hitting .250 with an RBI and SB, he's an improvement to half our lineup. Good move.

It was a joke. But in seriousness Villareal has 2 losses and 5 earned runs in his last 6.1 IP. So I thought calling out his batting prowress would make us all feel better about the move.

So...if Arroyo doesn't stink, Partch doesn't get sent down?

Undoubtedly. That's the fun part of being the 12th man with options. Villareal is just up for a day or two in case Cingrani or Sunday's SP stink and get yanked early.

Fresh arm until Broxton is ready. Partch was likely to go down then anyway but was used up and not too good last night so a new arm is needed. Used everybody but Chapman and Parra last night. Needed an arm. Too bad there aren't better options.

Agreed. Broxton is at GABP now. He's still scheduled to pitch in Louisville tomorrow (I think?).

LOL. Exactly. He needs to be i AAA anyway. I like the power in his arm but without command and some idea of what he's doing he needs to be somewhere he won't kill us on his 'off' nights.

Would Zach Duke have been a better option? This could be the reason he optioned out of his contract.
