    Football mentality.
I understand what you mean by football mentality, but this was still a big one, at least if they had hopes of winning the division. To get blown out and lose 2 of 3 at home after the dismal west coast swing is pretty depressing.
Again the idea of backinging into a wild Card game doesn't really interest me. This was a big game.

Leake was not good today....his teammates are jumping on board.
OF play was less than desirable, but pitching was the problem today, along with on-going offensive lethargy. Leake is effective because he gets ground balls by the bushel. When he doesn't, they are usually hard hit and some leave the park. Happened today.

Ondrusek is always bad. Bringing him in is the baseball version of waving the white flag.

At least we kept it close in both losses this series.

it wasn't close last year- we beat them by 9 games.

By the end of the season, with Miller up, they'd closed the talent gap.

Seriously, how is this guy on the team? His numbers were awful at LOUISVILLE.

Oakland coming into town next. Nice. Maybe they suspend Colon before his start on Wednesday. Fingers crossed.

    Well, here he is. Enjoy!

Good mechanics from Villarreal. Flying off to the left side after every pitch. This guy does not belong anywhere near an MLB roster.

LOL. Right on cue. He gives up a HR to Freese (who has been bad all year -- until this series).

When the Reds are making decisions ... how do they come to a conclusion like, "Hey, I've got it! Let's call up the guy who can't get anyone out in Triple-A!"

    Brilliant!

Villarreal has no business on a playoff contending roster.

Every so often, the Bowden/o'Brien/Krivsky years make a cameo appearance. Usually with the cardinals in town.

Pen and Partch got used up Friday. Afterwards Partch was sent down and an arm brought up to eat innings in a blow-out like this one. The team knew that Broxton was likely back on Tuesday after the off day on Monday and Partch was going down anyway. They made the move to add a fresh arm so that guys like Lecure or Hoover wouldn't need to pitch in a game like today.

Too bad they don't have anybody better, but that's how it went.
