Through three innings, Glendale leads 2-zip. Yorman has singled in two trips to the plate. No other Reds have played as of yet.

Yorman with an infield single in the first. He lined a single to left in the 7th. He is now 2-4 in the game. He either channeled his inner Billy Hamilton or something is missing from Gameday, because it has him scoring from first on a single to right.

My thoughts exactly. Yorman has plus speed, but even on a hit and run where he read the ball perfectly it is incredibly tough to score from first on a single.

didn't see the gameday, nor the description, but the only way I can see that happening is with 2 outs, perhaps a 3-2 pitch or perhaps a hit & run he takes off for 2nd, the ball is ripped to the wall, perhaps the guy at the plate is celebrating a bit as he thinks its a home run, or doesn't get out of the box quickly, either way, with 2 outs, Yorman doesn't have to worry about the ball being caught or not, he just keeps on keeping on and is already half way to 3rd by the time the ball hits the wall. It hits hard, right back to the outfield, who turns and throws to the cut off man, perhaps the batter is rounding 1st, but doesn't want to risk it so he stays at first rather than risk the cut off man going to 2nd w/ the ball and getting him out. So he gets a "long, loud" single, with Yorman running all the way. Something like that is the only way I could see that happening w/o an error being involved. Could have been a hit & run, the OF over plays the ball and it gets by him, allowing Yorman to score, but the hitter stays at first as the OF quickly retreats to catch the ball, just not in time to stop Yorman from getting home.

Yorman Rodriguez is wearing a size 4 collar so far tonight. Travis Mattair is 1 for 3 with a walk. He has scored a run. Tucker Barnhart is 1 for 2 (a double) with a walk. Barnhart has also gunned down a pair of would-be thieves.

Are they converting Michael Lorenzen to starter? Possibly. He started the game and went four innings, throwing 59 pitches this time out. I believe he threw 45 in his first outing. The results were mixed. 4IP 5H 4R 3ER 1BB 1K 1HR. Desert Sharky pitched a scoreless 8th. Sharky actually came on to get the last out in the seventh. The bases were juiced at the time. He went an inning and a third, allowing one hit and striking out two. Walczak pitched a perfect frame, striking out one batter.

EDIT: Barnhart grounded out to start the 9th. Glendale is trailing by a run.

MILB is making it easy to follow Reds' players in winter ball.

Other way it happens is the throw goes home, runner was heading to second anyway but is not credited with a double but rather advanced to 2nd on fielder's choice.

Ryan LaMarre singled and stole second in his only trip to the plate today. He started the game but was replaced in the top of the fourth inning. Hurt? Don't ask me. Drew Hayes pitched an inning and a third. He walked two and struck out two. He did not give up any hits.

MLBFallBall.com is the AFL site if you wanted to check up on the guys daily. Not sure if anyone linked to that in this thread or not.

He pitched on Tuesday night and it didn't go well. The fastball was 93-95, decent movement according to Pitch FX. The change up, while he only threw two of them, weren't good based on what Pitch FX was showing. They were moving just like his fastball, but just slower. Change ups should have more run and more sink but several inches in each direction. His change up had less run and no difference in sink. As a reliever, he probably doesn't need that pitch. If they are going to look at him as a starter, that pitch needs to be better than it was on that night (and maybe it is - we only had a 2 pitch sample size).

What is the competition level of the fall league this year...

1.) Elite 90% of guys will make it to major and play..
2.) High A lot of future MLB players.
    3.) Between AA and AAA

Also are averages inflated by pitching limits and fatigue?
