I am guessing that Ryan LaMarre got hurt. He was 1 for 1 in his second start on October 16th when he was taken out in the third inning. He hasn't played since. If it got posted somewhere I missed it.

Chad 'Desert Shark' Rogers continues to make opposing AFL hitters pound sand.

    Yorman Rodriguez goes 2-5 today. 1RS. 1RBI.
    Travis Mattair goes 3-5 today. 1DBL 1RS 2RBI.

Jamie Walczak started and pitched three scoreless innings. He allowed a walk, a hit, while fanning one batter.

Went to yesterday's game and will go to tonights. Nothing big to report. I'm not a Walczak fan even though he pitched shutout innings. The only thing that stood out to me was a throw from Yorman. He's got a VERY strong arm. I remembering somoeone saying otherwise. That person is wrong.

Is there any way to watch AFL games online? If this available with MILB.TV, I would sign up immediately...

I don't know who said that, but I am convinced if they did say it that they had him confused with someone else. He has always had a laser-rocket arm.

Joshua, no, there isn't a way to watch the games online. Except tomorrow when the AFL Fall Stars game will be on MLB Network and MLB.com at 8pm ET I believe (check your guide). There will also be five games on MLB Network next week, but I don't think they have announced which ones. MLB will be testing out new instant replay during those games.

    .
It was 19Braves77 in the Dawning of YR thread. He called it a Juan Pierre arm.

I watched the Reds Az team again tonight. Lorenzen started and went less than 2 innings. He was yanked after walking the bases loaded and then giving up a run. Needless to say, it was not impressive. They have no gun at Salt River Fields, but his fastball looked pretty good. But he was high with it a lot. And...

although I wasn't paying attention the whole time until I noticed it, I never saw him throw a breaking ball for a strike. After he walked the bases loaded Browning came out and talked to Lorenzen. After that Lorenzen never attempted a curve.

Secondly Barnhardt... first time I have been able to watch his "major league ready defense". It certainly passed the sniff test. The only way I can judge him is on throwing out runners and blocking balls, And he was good on the throwing and outstanding on the blocks. They were throwing balls in the dirt all day and he never missed one.

Jamie Walczak had a rough first outing but since then has been nails. His stats in his last five games: 8IP 1H 0R 0ER 3BB 9K. Rogers and Hayes have also been solid out of the pen.

    Walczak's last outing: 5 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 SO.

Walczak this fall, excluding his first outing: 13 IP, 1 H, 0 R.

    Yikes.

Walczak has always been a guy that, on some nights, would have you walking away saying that he could have gotten big league hitters out tonight with that stuff. Just nasty. The next time out, not the same guy. Maybe he is starting to figure out the consistency, how to repeat the delivery and the arm angle, etc. Remember, he never pitched until he signed with the Reds.

The biggest shocker of all time was the suspension of Walczak, who would have been the absolute last person you would suspect of anything like that. Very good person, mild-mannered, articulate, humble. Some players, even smart guys, struggle with the concept of not taking anything that you haven't cleared with the trainer. I am pulling for him. Hope he goes on the 40-man.

I've always added AFL stats to whatever the player did in season - it has always been my feeling that the league was somewhere above High A or right there at Double AA. There's not enough of a sample size to make a huge issue out of the numbers.

Here's my question on Lorenzen: what's the purpose of him pitching in the AFL this season? Regardless of what he might become in the future, he's just getting curb stomped right now. Part of development is putting players in situations where they can thrive and learn. I just don't see what Lorenzen is supposed to be gaining from this experience.

To lower our expectations of him.

I personally went from expecting the next big time closer to expecting the next Logan Ondrusek in less than a month.
