He was a Red killer. The Giants and Reds both went after him in 1987 at the trading deadline. Giants got him and won the division.
Another Reds killer was Randy Jones of the Padres. He threw very softly and would seemingly frustrate the BRM every time he pitched against them. He had a number of good seasons with the Padres.
