He was a Red killer. The Giants and Reds both went after him in 1987 at the trading deadline. Giants got him and won the division.

Another Reds killer was Randy Jones of the Padres. He threw very softly and would seemingly frustrate the BRM every time he pitched against them. He had a number of good seasons with the Padres.

I don't know that underrated is the right word for Pettitte; it's more like unheralded. Here's a guy that's largely played his entire career for the Yankees, which would otherwise bring him a ton of praise; yet, you really don't hear much about him, despite the fact he has excellent career numbers. I think there's one clear reason for that: he's an admitted juicer.
How do we know he's not Mel Torme?

    Ah..... J R Richard.

What would have happened if that blood clot issue hadn't derailed his career just after he had apparently conquered his more serious control issues and become the most dominant starter in MLB? The year immediately before his illness he was absulotely NASTY.

Silver King. If only his manager hadn't let him pitch 584 innings at the age of 20...

Jaret Wright. It's a shame he got hurt, that dude could've been one of the best.

Livan Hernandez. Years of quality innings, some outstanding postseason moments.

El Duque. OWNED the postseason, funky windup, and he handled the pressure and media of New York better than anyone.
