I haven't seen anyone who's been saying he's not been worse defensively this year. There's no question about it. His effort is not there defensively. That play was just another example of a lackadaisical effort at first. His decision making over there has been pretty poor this year too. Too many times wanting to go to 2nd on a ball hit to 1st when the smart play was to take the sure out at first. Too many times ranging too far to his right leaving Phillips hung out to dry. I'm not down on Votto. Not at all. But his effort and results at first have been towards the bottom of the league this season defensively IMO.

Yeah, but should be no runs in and two outs.

Cingrani will be lucky to complete 4 innings at this rate.

Some people argue that we never landed on the moon. Anyone making the argument that Votto is having a good year (or even a fair year) defensively isn't making a valid argument. There's no need to debate it.

It's right up there with all of the threads on redszone wondering what would have been if Corey Patterson had taken PEDs. Oh wait, that's what Corey Patterson constantly wonders.

Maybe its better we don't get to watch this one in Columbus.

making almost 2 million a month might make you lackadasical. I don't know...I could be wrong but I have seen it alot over the last 10-12 years after someone signs a huge contract...not just in baseball.

We get to watch it. Check your alt channel, bro.

That said, it's beyond ridiculous I have to watch the Reds on non-HD while the Crew is on the HD channel. The Reds get exponentially better ratings IN COLUMBUS than the Crew do. It's not even close. Way to take care of your customers!

Cingrani not charged with an earned run in the 1st. Maybe the fielders should have an ERA?
