Votto rung up after beginning his trot to first. Gameday's got it as a strike FWIW.

Joey has to swing the bat there....I don't think that was a very smart AB with 2 outs.

    As much as the Reds?

    Well obviously nobody.

But do the Reds not play an opponent every night?

I would say on aggregate, that the opposition makes an equal, or higher number of dumb plays on an average night.

I obviously have no way of proving this. But from a high level thought, no, I don't think the Reds are losing a significant amount of games because they have less intelligence than the opposition.

This so far has been the worst game a Reds fan could attend.....but it's still not over.

Floating strike zone, but Joey's more valuable swinging the bat in that situation than taking a walk.
Yes that was a very impressive infield single. I thought for a second it was leaving the yard. - texasdave 10/13/12

It was a strike, there is a situation where walking is not the optimal result.
This is the ol Left Hander rounding third and heading for home.

I disagree. In the spirit of Anchorman 2, we'll agree to disagree.

In that situation I want Votto trying to put one in the seats, not looking for a walk. I know those pitches were borderline, but you can't take them in that situation.

I really hope Dusty said something to Votto after that AB...I seriously doubt it though.

Was not a strike. Same pitch was called a ball on Cingrani 2x.

So, either it wasn't a strike, or the ump has a floating zone. Either way, bad job.

Which Reds players may I ask have "low baseball IQ's" besides Xavier Paul (whom I might add, have I never ever heard any criticize him before for making an inordinate amount of low baseball IQ plays before tonight).
