I haven't read the game thread and just now went back and pulled up the game's play by play to see how Ludwick's first game went (I knew he was 0-3 - but hey his OBP is .400!).

So how did he actually look? I see his first two AB's he put the first pitch in play each time. That doesn't tell me how he hit those. I know the first was a DP. His 3rd AB was four pitches and he grounded to first on a 2-1 pitch.

Out in the field, I see he didn't have a play until to flyouts in the 5th and then had another one, reported as a line-out, in the 7th.

Can someone give me a full report?

I thought he looked a bit overanxious at the plate. Chomping at the bit, as it were. In the field I thought he looked outstanding.

    Maybe someone updated this.
Dusty basically said that Latos was getting close to 100 pitches, which is kind of a danger zone for Matt. Dusty said that the Cubs had a few hard hit balls later in the game. Dusty said basically he prefers to start the inning with Chapman, as opposed to waiting for Latos to get in trouble, and then bringing in Chapman with men on base.

I know you aren't cricizing Dusty, but it made sense.
If Chapman is good to go, might as well use him.
The only alternative I could see was maybe using Broxton, since Broxton warmed up the inning before when Latos got men on base. But that's not a criticisim. I know they want to be gentle with Broxton.
