Tim Krul was awesome. 14 saves
Just watched Man City go down to Sunderland. It sure is fun to watch Manchester teams fail.

And Sunderland beats Man City
Can't say I know much about Manchester. What I do know is that it has long been considered the most valuable franchise in all of professional sports. I don't know if it has been overtook by the Cowboys, but there was a time where it was #1. Maybe it is like the Packers where they have a massive fan base from a relatively small city.
That said I have loosely followed Ozil's transfer rumors and it had long been stated that Ferguson had coveted Ozil. When it became apparent that Ozil was going to move, not getting into the whole Bale debate, ManU was at the top of the transfer rumor. It end up that he goes to Arsenal and ManU does little if anything in the transfer window. I don't get to watch a whole lot of soccer but good midfielders can change the fortunes of a team. There aren't a whole lot of good midfielders and I think Ozil has the ability to do so. From an outsiders point of view, Ozil going to Aresnal over ManU was an upset.
Sorry to bring up an old topic, but the more insight I can get on the EPL the better.
I just want to note that I'm really liking NBC's coverage of the EPL. I don't know if the replay graphics are coming from NBC or the English feed, but I like the spots they put on the players with their names. It helps when I'm watching with my son because he can see the player they're talking about and I can explain why the player moved where he did to get into position to make the play.

Just watched the end of Hull beating Liverpool and then Southampton scores on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in 12 seconds.

That was a pretty poor showing by Liverpool. Speaking of Hull, has anyone else paid any attention to this business with the owner wanting to change the name from Hull City to Hull Tigers. Apparently the fan base is rather adamantly against it and he's set on making the change anyway. It looks kind of ugly.

Rebranding is always tricky when you have a team with 100 years of history. Past experience with MK Dons (the former AFC Wimbledon) and FC Red Bull Salzburg (the former SV Austria Salzburg) show that hard core supporters aren't afraid to revolt and start a new club under the old name. I don't know that changing the name will be enough to drive Hull supporters to start their own club, since Hull already goes by the Tigers as a nickname. They may just ignore the rebranding and refuse to buy merchandise with the new name on it. Either way it's never a good idea to needlessly tick off your fanbase.

Suarez with four stunning goals yesterday, the first one from at least 40 yards out.

Big win for the Blues yesterday over Man City.
2 points separates the top 3 (Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea) and there are 3 teams all within 3 points of the final Champions League spot (Liverpool, Everton, Tottenham).
Going to be a wild stretch run, I think.

Arsenal has an absolutely brutal stetch coming up. Liverpool twice, Man U and Bayern. Then a bit of a break then away games to Spurs, Chelsa and Bayern followed by City and Everton with the possiblity of another Champions league game if they get by Bayern. The final 7 games could all be wins, but I think Arsenal has to be within 5 points of City at the end of that run to have a chance.
I picked the bad year to more closely follow the EPL and my adopted team, Fulham. They're a disaster, although I'm encouraged by their additions in the transfer winder. Much too little too late, I'm afraid.
Any suggestions for a new club next year? It probably doesn't need to be said, but I'm not one for front-running. And unlike other sports, I'm not in too deep with my allegiance to be a fan free agent.
