Bama is very good. Auburn is just better than most Bama fans were willing to admit. Vegas made them 10 pt dogs but no one who has watched Auburn all season would've taken Bama in that bet IMHO.

It was a helluva a game. SEC fans will talk about it for years. It's everything I watch college sports for....

Saban just made a huge tactical error. He took a big chance that his field goal unit was going to have to cover a kickoff and Chris Davis is part of one of the best punt/kickoff return teams in college.

This is why the Iron Bowl is so special. It's four decades later and we still talk about the Punt Bama Punt Game. We'll be talking about the Kick Bama Kick game for years to come too. We watched history tonight. It sucks to be on the losing side of one of these. It's indescribable to be on the winning side.

Bama football wouldn't be as special as it is if they beat everyone by 20. And like it or not, Auburn isn't little brother.... Auburn is a special program too and it's called Amen corner for a reason. Your guys left it all on the field, probably want several plays back, and would love to have the fourth quarter over. But it's hard to win three championships in a row, especially when you live in the SEC West. Bama fans have a ton to be proud of, and your season isn't over-the last two Bama teams had 1 loss.

Classy post. I'm more mad that he didn't kick the field goal on that 4th and 1 or the holding call on Yeldon's run down to the 5 yard line or Amari Cooper's dropped TD or that Arie jumped on Cade's made field goal. I am frustrated, but not because of Saban deciding to kick. We should not have been in that position.

I can get on board with that, in the "if everyone played everyone else 100 times" sense.

No idea what that means, but Alabama losing at #4 Auburn, in the most fluke way imaginable, doesn't change what I already thought. It means about as much as Ohio State winning today because unranked Michigan chickened out at the end.

Excellent post, just wish you guys didn't cost the SEC a chance for another national championship and keep the gnashing of teeth from the other conferences afloat.

Congrats though. Outside of winning a championship, getting a win over a hated rival is special. Alabama-Auburn is to college football what Kentucky-Louisville is to basketball.

Mizzou vs. Auburn in the SEC title game... aliens

Regardless of what happens, I hope Mizzou gained some respect in the SEC. I never thought they would be this competitive this quickly. People calling for Pinkel's job last year should be eating crow.

It just means that if every team in the NCAA played each other 100 times I think Bama would be the team with the best record. To me that's the only way the "best" team could ever be determined on the field.

That's not a bad thing though. It just means you get only one chance to prove it on the field right now. Which often leads to the "best" team not always winning...again, not a bad thing. Think MLB playoffs as a slight example.

Humor me and pretend Saban is thinking about Texas.

Does the loss today push him towards Austin or keep him in Tuscaloosa out for blood?

    I can see both scenarios.

What's the non-conference matter when they play Bama, TAMU, LSU, UGa, Ole Miss, plus a road win in Knoxville, never easy despite UT's being down right now. I think we can give AU a mulligan on their non-conference when their schedule as a whole has been much more challenging than those of OSU, FSU, Baylor, Okie State, MSU, and many others ranked in the upper end of the BCS right now.

I agree with that, and if Ohio State played either Auburn or Alabama I would regard OSU as the underdog.....but if Ohio State and Florida State are still undefeated after next week I believe they should be the two teams in the BCS title game. The BCS system is a terribly flawed way to pick a national champion but if there are only two undefeated, untied teams left from the major conferences that is who I would match up in the title game.

I was not arguing the contrary, was judt surprised how bad the out of conference was.

This is why we need more than a 4 team playoff. Bama is out of it now because they lost to a team that neither OSU nor FSU had to play in the regular season
