I'm all for Broxton being THE closer, but others on where were complaining Chapman was not getting enough work earlier
I believe the slider is his second pitch. It may have been a changeup.

Just because a pitch is his second used pitch does not mean the call is two fingers. 3 is commonly a slider (with 2 being a curveball). 4 fingers (wiggled) is often a change up. Those are the common calls and not changed for the pitcher unless he has something like a split finger, screwball, knuckleball, etc.
It can change up depending on the pitcher, but just because the call is 3 fingers does not mean it's his 3rd pitch.
I never said it does (necessarily mean that).
However, each team has their own calls. More specifically, usually each pitcher/catcher have their own signals. What is "common" is irrelevant. Chapman doesn't throw a curve, never has. So the two fingers being "common" to a curveball has no relevance to Chapman's signals. It's most likely that the slider is two fingers for Chapman, since he only has three pitches he uses currently.

From what I saw the pitch clearly looked like a slider that just didn't have much on it. Either way it was a poor pitch. Hopefully we can forget about it here in a few hours and start another streak. Latos was just filthy against the Cubs.
