Sometimes bunts are ok, but not that often.

Bunting with Hanigan is a huge risk because he is so slow.

    Probably not a great idea.

I think we are seeing Hoover in the eighth and Broxton in the ninth tonight. Hope it works out.

What is even more important is no slow runner should bunt, especially a catcher. I despise the bunt.

I don't despise bunting because the Reds are bad at it I despise bunting because I rarely think giving the other team an out is a good idea.

Hoover falls behind 2-0. Now 2-1. And 2-2. And 2-3. K, two out.

Yep. I was talking about this just earlier today with Doug. As the game seems to be making that swing towards small ball (pitching/defense) we should start to see the importance of the bunt come back into play. The farm systems better start teaching it with more purpose in mind. The fundamentals I see with it are atrocious.

I had to pause the game and step away. I heard a major Window rattling explosion near my home. I called the police and they were already in route ro a street two south of me. What could it be? I don't think we have natural gas around here. Wife won't let me go check it out

It can be a good play when the pitcher is a weak hitter. It can also be ok when you desperately need a run with a man on second, no out.

Three out, pop up to Mesoraco. Into the ninth we go.

In the 60s and 70s a good bunt almost guaranteed advancing the runner and in a third of the cases got you an infield hit unless it was a pitcher. Those guys were good at bunting
