At the end of that stretch, it could be close if Reds don't do that well on the road. Then the Nats-Cards, well, what if the Cards have clinched and don't care?
But remember...the Cards will be trying to top Atlanta for the home field.

BTW, Cards getting murdered right now!

    Bucs ahead ib their game.

4-0 is not 'getting murdered' but let's hope it does become that.

Nats have won 6 in a row.
Cards have won 5 in a row.
Pirates have won 4 in a row.

    Enough already.

If the Reds can't hold a 6 game lead with 15 games to go, I don't want them in the playoffs anyway.

Cutch is just doing everything for the Pirates. Watching the replay of that ball he got to tonight....off the bat and ball trajectory and his starting point....unbelievable catch.

Basically, the Reds now play nine on the road, the Nats ten at home. Nats have their top hurlers lined up and they finish the homesand with four v. Miami.

At the end of that stretch, it could be close if Reds don't do that well on the road. Then the Nats-Cards, well, what if the Cards have clinched and don't care?

This is all just a lot of "what if" talk, I think the Reds will make it. But I wish the Nats were a couple of games more behind.
I'm glad you didn't type the long analysis on this since it's ultimately subjective. Agree there are many reasons why the Reds COULD face problems but also there are many reasons why the Nats likely (imho) won't pose a big threat.

We both worry about the same thing. You're maybe just a tad more worried than I am. Just don't overly worry over the weekend since the Nats will be playing the Phils so may do well in that series before Atlanta comes calling and 9 of the final 12 will be against contending teams.

Aoki just knocked a triple to drive in a Crew insurance run top of the 9th. Now 5-2 MIL over STL and still just an out and Aoki on 3rd.

Knock on wood but looks like the Brewers are going to get us one of those Cards losses we'll need beyond the ones we might more expect (Rockie and Nats).

WTF? Aoki caught stealing home with 1 out.

Bottom of the 9th and last 3 outs for STL. Hope that ill advised steal doesn't take the stuffing out of Milwaukee's closer.

I expect the Reds to be a wild card. As for this weekend, hopefully the Reds win the series in Milwaukee and the rest will take care of itself.

Brewers up three on Cards, 5-2, bottom nine tonight.

Re: Scoreboard Watching 2013 (Part 3)

Beltran K's. That's one gone bottom of the 9th.
Freese lines out to the SS. Two away.
Jim Henderson throwing mostly 95-97 heat with just an out left to get.
And, Craig's replacement, Matt Adams, hits one out but it's a solo.

Now 5-3, 2 out, bottom of the 9th. .209-hitting Tony Cruz primed to be the last out with Carpenter on deck.

And, it's over. Cards lose! Cards lose! Win streak stops at 5.

That puts the Bucs back in 1st tied with STL. For us, baby steps. We inch closer. We're now just 2.5 back.

Whatever happens over the next two weeks, it's going to be a wild ride.
