Arizona just scored two in the top of the 16th. Now 4-2.

Groundout to the end the Diamondbacks's inning. Hopefully now the Pirates go quietly into the night and we gain on them.

I want 2 Pirates runs to tie it, then 5 or 6 more innings. Then the D-backs can win it.

Well, yeah, that would be ideal, but you can only hope for so much. Be fantastic if it did happen, though.

Game on the line and the Pirates have to bat a relief pitcher. Nice...

Game over. Said relief pitcher strikes out and the Diamondbacks take it 4-2.

Can the Pirates pull off the unthinkable and manage to only win 8 or less games and finish under .500 for the millionth season in a row?
    Is it "next season" yet?

Indeed it is. It would be even more fun if we could have a mulligan on the bottom of the 9th inning Friday night.

Pirates with a whole lot of extra inning games of late. After that 16 inning loss, they now board a plane for San Diego, who plays above .500 ball at home. I keep waiting for the Pirates relievers arms to fall off with how much they have been used, though Hurdle did use one pitcher for 6 innings to save his pen a lot of work.

But I'm not going to complain about 6 pitchers needing to go for the D backs.

I really love all of these long, extra inning games that PIT is playing. Great opportunities to continue wearing down a bullpen that has already pitched an obscene number of innings.
