Pirates 6-1 over Cards in the 3rd.

Lynn on the verge of losing his spot on the Cards playoff roster.

Is it wrong that I hope the Cards don't have a playoff roster?

Re: Scoreboard Watching 2013 (Part 3)

With St. Louis and Pittsburgh beating up on each other (with Pittsburgh doing most of the pummeling), the REDS can avert disaster by winning today, taking the series and accomplishing the task at hand.

Let's see if the Septemeber call ups can improve the team's ability to put together a string of victories.

After losing two straight series to the Cardinals, winning the division has gotten a lot tougher. It might take a 7-game winning streak to pull this thing out (while avoiding the reverse of putting together any 3-game losing streaks the rest of the year....can't afford 3-game losing streaks anymore.

Pirates sending sacrificial lamb to mound to face the Cards today, Kris Johnson.

Already 1-0 Cards and it looks like it will get ugly.

Yeah, this is getting uglier by the minute.

5-0 Cards after 4 but this may be the best outcome for the Reds actually if they can pull out a win today. Gain a game on the leader. Stay the same on the first WC (2.5 both ways).

Pirates pull ahead 5-1 over Milwaukee.

Nats could make it 6.5 by the end of the night though.

Nats/Phillies game. Tyler Clippard comes in the bottom of the 8th and gives up the lead with 2 hits, 2 walks (one intentional), and 2 runs. 3-2 Phillies.

Nats lose. Reds are 7 games up on Wild Card #2 with 24 to play.

    Holy Schnikes!

A couple weeks ago on one of these threads they were talking about Mike Trout's speed and that his additional 20 lbs have him a step slower.

Watching MLB Network he just hit ball to Yunel Escobar, fielded it cleanly and Trout beat it out fairly easily. I timed it at 3.65 seconds from the RH batters box (Drew Stubbs was typically 3.72-3.75...with an occasional 3.68-3.71)....then on a line drive 2 hopper to the CF near LCF he went 1st to 3rd.

It may be the world's smallest sample size but holy moses that was the best back to back example of speed by 1 player I've seen in a long long time.
