    Fossas on Travieso

This interview may be interesting to some. Dayton pitching coach Tony Fossas talks about Nick Travieso's start on Monday in which he showed great improvement over the second half of the game. He also comments at the end on Stephenson's progress and next step in his rehab.

That's good to hear. Hopefully the coaching staff there can find out how to make him work at that velocity for 6-7 innings.

Nice interview. Very encouraging about Travieso. Also good to hear there's something more to McMyne than his numbers have shown. Thanks 72.

McMyne still has the arm of the guy who was a fourth round pick. Pitches at 95-96. Not sure what happened in Bakersfield. Likely was pitching behind in the count, ala Stephenson in April. Interesting guy to watch from here.

Boy, if Travieso, McMyne, Arias and YRod could have nice 2d halves it would be a trenendous to how the system looks overall.

While that would be nice, I'm much more interested in seeing whether Hamilton can put together a a strong second half and prove last year wasn't a fluke. It would also be nice to see Corcino reclaim his status as top prospect. Those two guys in AAA have been massive disappointments thus far in 2013.

Watching Travieso take batting practice today, not that it means anything, but he likely was a top-5 round pick as a hitter if he had not been a better pitching prospect. In terms of raw power, he would rank in the top 5-10 in the Reds organization right now.

Since pitchers don't bat until Double-A, it will be a while before he hits.
