Make Your Best Offer: David DeJesus

Mine is PTBNL. Apparently that's all it takes.

Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Been wanting Dejesus for years and he gets traded for a PTBNL. This seems to happen so often.

I forget, did he clear waivers? If he didn't, Reds couldn't have gotten him at this point anyway.

I assume Cubs did not want to pay 6.5 million option next year so would rather dump now than pay 1.5 million buyout. Reds could have had claim in on him but Nationals were lower in waiver order. Or did he clear waivers?

Well, the Cards play the Nats later in the season, so . . . .

Damn, we could use DeJesus a lot more than Washington.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

According to MLB Trade Rumors, he was claimed off waivers by the Nationals so the Reds had no shot during this time frame.

I'm guessing the budget was totally maxed out this year (and maybe next year too).

On the other hand.. just to play devil's advocate.. We pick up DeJesus and then buy him out at the end of the season.. That means either Paul or Heisey gets released to make room for DeJesus. As I understand, neither Paul nor Heisey has options left.

DeJesus is certianly better than Paul/Heisey.. but is it worth the $$ and losing Paul/Heisey to get DeJesus for a month?

It would probably be Paul that gets bumped, because he's the lefty and with CF unsettled next year, we really can't cut Heisey (not to mention, Heisey is the backup CF, although I guess DeJesus could fill that role next year)
Thank you Walt and Bob for going for it in 2010-2014!

Gio Gonzalez was a PTBNL. So was David Ortiz.

This goes unnoticed so often here it's kinda funny.

Nats' grabbed him. Reds had no shot.

    That's just soul-crushing to the knee-jerk crowd.

DL Hannahan or Paul. Easy answer.

Nats put him back on waivers according to Rotoworld. It's obvious they were more concerned about where he might go, vs. wanting to keep him.

The team that makes the most sense they would care about is the Reds. And that makes little sense with the Nats 10.5 games behind them.

I don't know what the Nats are doing here. They are out of it. Sometimes things their GM does and says is kind a mind boggeling.
