Yea, we could cut Paul and it would not be a huge loss. I agree with that.

I think Hannahan (or someone like him) is needed. I don't want to only have one backup infielder.

Still, not sure the cost-benefit is worth it, unless the Reds consider DeJesus a passable CF (I can't make a judgement myself) and wanted to commit to him for next year. Apparently Washington wants him back next year.

I honestly think the budget was fully maxed out this year, that's why all the creativity was needed to work out the Choo deal.

It sure would be interesting to know what Chicago's asking price was before the July 31 deadline though (if it was greater than what they settled for)
Thank you Walt and Bob for going for it in 2010-2014!

That's an odd turn of events.
Although if they can flip him for more than they paid, more power to them.

It's being speculated that it was a "waiver wire mistake." Rizzo must be using the notebooks that Leatherpants left behind.

I'm not saying it isn't but how could it be a waiver wire mistake if they gave away a PTBNL? That means they had to come to some sort of deal. If it was a mistake by claiming Dejesus and they did not want him then the Cubs wouldve just had to turn his contract over to Nationals. They wouldn't have got something in return.

I'm surprised TB thinks he's good enough to help them win the AL East, but he wasn't good enough for Walt to obtain before or after the deadline so that he could help us.

Luke Scott's on the DL and he replaced Jason Bourgeois on Tampa's roster, so, good enough to help them means better than Jason Bourgeois. That's not exactly a mountain to climb.
