Some tend to throw UZR out with the bathwater because its "subjective" data that could potentially be affected by the positioning of a teammate. Jeeps many of those are the same who argue in favor of ERA, a metric that is by definition beholden to someone's subjective opinion about what was earned and unearned while also containing the influence of 8 other guys on the field....

    - Latos allows nearly a full run less in ERA than Bailey
    - Bailey has been way more feast vs. famine (i.e. not consistent) than Latos

In the end, Bailey has come a long way but he is no Latos right now.

That would be FCB, I believe.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

It's important to remember that Leake, Latos, and Bailey have the same defense behind them.

I would rather simply look at runs allowed rather than just earned runs. Nevertheless, given that the above pitchers have the sme defense behind them and they pitch in roughly the same number of games in the same stadium, I feel remarkably comfortable proclaiming Leake and Latos the superior performers this season vs. Bailey.
